The Micro-project Fund focuses the development of cooperation between communities on both sides of the border concerning various fields of human activities. Examples of fields funded by MPF include culture, sport, education, tourism, environment, planning, economical development, and IT. The scope of projects is very large indeed, but each project has to achieve a cross-border impact and must have a partnership nature.

There were 144 projects subsidised from the Micro-project Fund INTERREG IIIA in the Euroregion Silesia in 2005 - 2008, and 99 % of the financial means allocated for the fund were spent. A new Fund for 2007 - 2013 had been instituted before the last projects within the INTERREG IIIA Programme finished. Much larger allocation compared to funds of previous periods, considerable interest of applicants, and shared responsibility for correct distribution of the allocation will prove whether a ten-year activity of the Euroregion Silesia concerning cross-border cooperation proves sufficient for achieving the EU aims.

The scope of cross-border projects subsidised from the Micro-project Fund is very large.
